. . . to David Rigsbee, the recipient of the 2010 Sam Ragan Award for Literature.  David is professor of English at Mount Olive College, and the author of 12 books of poetry, plus the forthcoming The Red Tower: New and Selected Poems.  Previous winners of the Sam Ragan Award include Fred
Chappell, Clyde Edgerton, Louis Rubin, and Betty Adcock.

Hat's Off!

...to poet Nancy Simpson Brantley. Her poem, " In the Nantalala Gorge" was published at Pisgah Review, edited by Jubal Tiner.  Her poems "Bus Duty" and "In Room Nine" published at Solo Cafe in California, edited by guest poet Lenard D. Moore.  At the recent American Writing Programs Conference in Chicago, two important poetry collections were presented: The 50th Anniversary Issue of Southern Poetry Review. Nancy Simpson's poem, "Grass" was reprinted.  Anhinga Press unveiled THE POETS GUIDE TO THE BIRDS edited by Judith Kitchen and Ted Kooser in which Nancy Simpson's new poem, "Carolina Blue Birds" was included.
