The North Carolina Arts Council has awarded her a $10,000 Arts Council Writers Fellowship, given on the basis of excellence in writing, based on the story “Accidental Birds of the Carolinas,” in her new story collection by the same name. An author interview with D. G. Martin will be aired on UNC-TV’s Carolina Book Watch on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2.

Hats Off! to Tamra Wilson, whose novel excerpt, "The Cozy Corner," was a finalist in the Machigonne Fiction Competition sponsored by The New Guard in Portland, ME. The story will appear in the upcoming issue. Several of Tamra's short essays have also appeared on the WFAEats website, affiliated with WFAE, the NPR station in Charlotte.
