Psychologist and novelist Richard Helms will present a workshop on Writing Thrilling Stories: Jungian Archetypes and Joseph Campbell's “The Hero's Journey.” Helms will talk about the origin of Carl Jung's archetypal theories and Joseph Campbell's storytelling guidelines, and will demonstrate how they permeate not only ancient myths and legends, but also modern cultural and literary iconic tales such as those of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, Doctor Who, and Paul Atreides in Frank Herbert's Dune. Also, he will present a new prototype for storytelling derived from Campbell's theories, which attendees can use to develop and enhance their own writing and storytelling process. Helms is a three-time nominee for a Shamus Award and has twice won the Derringer Award. All sessions include a homemade lunch. Classes are limited to fourteen people. Gift certificates are available.

Location: The Farm at Weathers Creek (between Cleveland and Mooresville)
