This eight-week workshop is designed for writers of short stories and/or novels. Meetings will include craft-oriented discussions of short fiction and novel excerpts. Each class will have a different focus inspired by the needs and interests of the workshop, which may include beginnings and endings, character development, point of view, creating a strong sense of place, the role of plot, and fiction at the sentence level. Each student will have the opportunity to workshop short stories or novel excerpts in a serious and supportive environment. Sponsored by The Hinge Literary Center.

The Final Judge was Richard Krawiec. Taylor claimed Second Place for his poem “Ways of Leaving,” while Sharp was awarded an Honorable Mention for his poem "Requiem for Luciana."
