The proceeds from this benefit social go to the Louder than a Bomb Youth Poetry Tournament hosted by Poet.she April 26-28 2013 in Greensboro. Louder than a Bomb was started in 2001 in Chicago and has since grown to be the largest highest poetry festival in the world, and even inspired a full-length feature film. The film won a spot on Oprah’s Own Channel Documentary Club. Following this tradition, 16 poetry teams of high school students across NC will compete with their stories and poems in a 3 day festival. Poet.she will be going into high schools such a Dudley, Smith, Grimsley, Weaver, Page creating poetry clubs and facilitating a positive creative environment for students to express themselves through the art of spoken word. The objectives for the program are to bring teens together across racial and socioeconomic lines in efforts to enhance their writing, speech, and team skills. The estimated audience is over 500 community members and over 100 students. With workshops, famous speakers, and educational prizes this event is sure to be one of the biggest in Greensboro.

Location: Wine Styles Wine Bar, Greensboro Friendly Center, 3326 Friendly Ave. #141 (Greensboro)
