...... to Jan Parker. Jan B. Parker of Fuquay-Varina, NC is proud to announce her novella, HARD TIMES AND
HAPPENSTANCE, took First Place honors in the Press 53 Open Awards contest, as judged
by Ashley Warlick, author of three novels including, THE DISTANCE FROM THE HEART OF
THINGS (1996), THE SUMMER AFTER JUNE (2000) and SEEK THE LIVING (2005). Jan's
novella will be published in the 2009 Press 53 Open Award Anthology, due to be
