As I Am
A Collection of thoughts in prose

by Patrice L. Watson

Book Excerpt

From the earth I came a faceless, shapeless creature. No one can hear my voice, understand my cries. And, no one wants to hear my joy.

The entire universe stems from me. All that you are and all that you will be is due to me; my blood, sweat and tears.

My body was a slave to you, my soul a mystery and my beauty a delight.

We are inseparable, one in the same. When the sun rises over your window it whispers my name, but you ignore it.

You don’t want to believe that even though I am a "shadow" of you that I exist on my own. And, will continue to be long after you are gone.

Open your heart to me and discover all of the wonders mother earth has given to me.

Explore all that the wind has told me, the birds have shown me and all that is

"ME".

Hat's Off!

Hats Off! to Joseph Cavano, whose controversial short story “Donors” has been selected for publication in the May issue of North Atlantic Review. His newest, as of yet untitled short-story collection, has already attracted the attention of several publishers who have inquired about publishing it sometime this year.
