October, 2011
Holiday Anthology
Available at Pomegranate Books, 4418 Park Ave., Wilmington

The Pomegranate Writers’ Group has met bi-monthly at Pomegranate Books in Wilmington, NC, for the past seven years. The group is composed of an eclectic assembly of authors writing in diverse genres. This year they have compiled their first collaborative book.

Their chapbook, Amaryllis, A Holiday Anthology, contains a collection of short stories and poems that tackle both the bitter and the sweet. Included in the book is a poem about a father’s ambivalence over his grown children’s tug-of-war with independence and a fairytale for all ages boasting the power of gumption-laced gumdrops. There are also a few memoirs of days gone by, as well as a story of an unexpected cross-cultural Christmas.

Pomegranate Books will host a reading on Thursday, December 1; from 6-8:00 PM. Light snacks will be provided. A free drawing will be held that evening for two complimentary theatre tickets to a new play by local writer John Grudzien premiering Friday evening, December 2, 2011 at the (Big Dawg) Cape Fear Playhouse, 613 Castle Street, Downtown Wilmington. Called “TWO,” the production is new to Wilmington. One play is a comedy and the other is a drama.

Parking is available. Signed copies will be on hand.

For more information about the event, call the bookstore at 910 452-1107.
