Hats Off! to Mark Smith-Soto, whose poetry collection Splices won an Honorable Mention in the annual chapbook contest sponsored by Finishing Line Press. Finishing Line will bring the book out in February of next year, but is accepting prepublication orders from now until the end of November.

Hats Off! to Helen B. Aitken of Swansboro, NC, who won first place in nonfiction for the short story, “Wolf Man Howls into Manhood," in the South Carolina Writers’ Workshop 2012 Petigru Review. Ms. Aitken also is featured for her humorous creative nonfiction story, “Death for Lunch.”
