The Network Welcomes Pat Schneider to North Carolina for a
Writing Residency

The wisest teacher of writing I know.
-- Peter Elbow, author of Writing Without Teachers

The Network is delighted to be bringing celebrated writing teacher Pat Schneider to North Carolina, July 10 - 14 for a writing residency at Peace College in downtown Raleigh."The wisest teacher of writing I know," says the renowned writing teacher Peter Elbow in his introduction to Pat's new book, Writing Alone and With Others.

"We are all writers," Schneider says, "Since our earliest days we have used language as a tool and as an art form. Each of us can move our closest friend to laughter, to deep emotion, to experience a 'denouement' by our storytelling. This workshop is for the writer in every person--to free the writer, to give the writer encouragement, confidence, and skill."

Since the 1970s Pat has led hundreds of workshops that have helped writers find and liberate their own voices. Thousands of writers have benefited from her method. She helps writers deal with fear, writer's block, ethical issues such as privacy and politics, and matters of craft. This workshop will benefit both beginning writers and pros.

In addition to being the author of eight books and an internationally known writing workshop leader, Schneider is the founder/director of Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA). Located in Amherst, Massachusetts, AWA has for 25 years offered writing workshops, published books and a literary journal, Peregrine, and developed programs for a wide range of populations.
