Sherry Shaw Wins Thomas Wolfe Fiction Prize

2006 Competition Winner

Sherry Shaw of Gastonia has won the 2006 Thomas Wolfe Fiction Prize for her story "October." Final judge Josephine Humphreys said Shaw’s story "achieves the sense of mystery we hope for in fiction, lifting the story to a level of rich complexity."

First honorable mention goes to Lis Anna of Asheville, NC, for "The Descent."

Second honorable mention goes to Therese Fowler of Raleigh, NC, for "Outside the Lines."

We are especially proud that three North Carolinians -- all attendees at our 2005 Fall Conference -- won this national competition!
