Bookends—McIntyre's very own book club—resumes on September 20. Our Fearrington friend and neighbor, Wayne J. Pond, will lead a discussion of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre. The next month, on Thursday, October 18, we'll "bookend" that 19th-Century classic with a session devoted to Margot Livesey's 21st-Century homage to Bronte, The Flight of Gemma Hardy. Both books are available at McIntyre's with the usual book club 20 percent discount. In the late fall of 2012 and the early part of 2013, Bookends will explore the enduring themes of faith and doubt in the work of writers such as Herman Melville and Sinclair Lewis.
