Sharon Ewell Foster is the author ofThe Resurrection of Nat Turner, Part One: The Witnesses: A Novel and The Resurrection of Nat Turner, Part Two: The Testimony: A Novel. Both works, based on actual trial records, interviews with descendants, and official documents, seek to reinterpret history to offer a new American story of one man’s struggle for freedom and the redemption of his people. Ewell Foster was just announced as the winner of the 2012 Michael Shaara Prize for Excellence in Civil War Fiction forThe Resurrection of Nat Turner, Part One: The Witnesses A Novel. Presentd by the Department of African and African American Studies.
