Aphrodite's Daughter

Author: Becky Gould Gibson

The book carries two Aphrodites: one, the familiar Olympian goddess who serves more as a projection of male desire than her own person; the other, the Great Mother of myth and memory, who holds life and death in her hands.

The poems move from complaint to reconciliation as the protagonist seeks the original mother, and, in so doing, to live not through beauty, charm, or deceit, but rather through authentic work.
