A Form of OptimismAuthor: Roy Jacobstein
Poems from this book appeared in TriQuarterly, The Threepenny Review, Poetry Daily, The Gettsysburg Review, and other literary publications. One of the book's poems is included in LITERATURE: Reading Fiction, Poetry & Drama (McGraw-Hill, 2006), another won the American Anthropology Association's humanistic poetry prize, and a set of six poems won the 2006 Glenna Luschei Prairie Schooner Award. His previous book of poetry, Ripe, an expansion of his 2000 NCWN Harperprints-winning chapbook, Blue Numbers, Red Life, won the 2002 Felix Pollak Prize. A physician and adjunct professor of maternal and child health in UNC's School of Public Health, Roy works in Africa and Asia on women's reproductive health programs and lives with his wife and daughter in Chapel Hill.
