Calling all Salisbury area writers! The Salisbury Writers and Artists Guild has just launched its new website, www.SWAGNC.org, to promote networking between local writers and artists and provide information about upcoming literary and artistic events.
This website will also be the virtual home of the interactive Tabula Rasa: A Literary and Arts Anthology, a display of writers from multiple genres and artists across the spectrum of visual media. Pieces featured will be selected from a “call for submission” competition.
The website’s “Directory” page aims to host a complete listing of local writers, artists, and organizations. If you wish to be included, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your name or the name of your organization, pertinent contact information including e-mail address, your website, and the literary or artistic medium of your work (if applicable).
The Greater Salisbury Area hosts a thriving artistic community, and the SWAG website will be sure to highlight all events that encourage and enhance that community. Currently, their website announces the upcoming Writers and Artists Festival, a six-day festival which will celebrate the interrelationship of writing and the arts by showcasing writers and artists from around North Carolina. This festival, launching next March, will include events such as author talks, symposiums, signings, classes, a film series, and workshops.
SWAG is a nonprofit dedicated to fostering the community of the arts in the Greater Salisbury area and encouraging communication between artists of all mediums and the creatively-minded. As the SWAG website proclaims, “Individuals should have access to literature, writing opportunities, art, and culture in their daily lives.” The Guild hopes this website will further their goal of spreading the arts throughout the Salisbury area. It will certainly become an invaluable resource for area writers.
SWAG is currently incorporated and applying for 501(C) (3) status. They can be found at the Literary Bookpost in Downtown Salisbury, 110 S Main St.
