Miles Tager is an award-winning reporter and author of Grandfather Mountain; a Profile. He is a founding member of the Asheville Writer's Workshop and Greenline (now Mountain X-press) newspaper in Asheville. He has worked as a correspondent for the Raleigh News and Observer, Asheville Citizen, and The Mountain Times in Boone. His awards include two North Carolina Press Association awards for feature and news reporting, an award from Appalachian State University for writing on the environment, an award from the North Carolina Bar Association for a two-year series of pieces on a death penalty case in Boone, and two awards, one for fiction and one for non-fiction, from the North Carolina Writer's Network. He has conducted numerous writing workshops and worked with both high school and university journalism programs. He lives in Ashe County with his wife Clare and Shih Tzu Smiley.
