Co-sponsored by Charlotte Center for Literary Arts and Charlotte Art League. Using the art-filled galleries at Charlotte Art League, writers will respond to what they see before them and learn to use visual art as a tool to prompt rich reflective writing. Participants may choose to respond in poetry or prose or any combination of genres. The aim will be to create rough drafts to expand and/or revise. The session is suitable for all levels of writers, from those cracking open their first blank notebook, to experienced writers who wish to spark their way into new work.
Workshop leader Christine Arvidson is a poet and visual artist. Her poetry chapbook, “The House Inside My Head” (Finishing Line Press), was published in 2022. Chris recently curated an ekphrastic show at the Charlotte Art League called “Evolution of Words and Art” and mounted her own ekphrastic show, “Painting Words,” in the League’s galleries.
