An Evening With Joshua Bennett | Guilford

April 11 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for a special evening of poetry with Joshua Bennett.

NC A&T State University’s F.D. Bluford Library and Greensboro Bound are proud to present an exciting event, 100% free to the community: in NC A&T’s McNair Auditorium, Room 240.

In his New York Times Notable Book of the Year, Spoken Word: A Cultural History, Dr. Joshua Bennett illuminates the history of the spoken word movement and its wide-ranging influence across the globe and into the classrooms, cafés, performances and political protests of our contemporary culture.

As a critically acclaimed author and spoken-word poet who has performed his original works at the Sundance Film Festival, the NAACP Image Awards, and President Obama’s Evening of Poetry and Music at the White House, Bennett is passionate about illuminating the voices who set him on his own journey.

Bennett will be joined by Aggie Poet Laureate, Essence Connor-Barringer, an A&T alum and current M.A. student in English and African American literature. A Charlotte native, she has published two books of poetry: Maple Sunrise and An Ochre Road.

This event is open to all who complete registration at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-evening-with-joshua-bennett-tickets-857306796707?aff=oddtdtcreator,
