Carteret Writers Quadrennial Conference
April 15 @ 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Join the Carteret Writers for a day of learning, inspiration, and community building at our one-day conference celebrating forty years of serving writers! Our MC for the event will be Edgar-nominated mystery writer Thomas Kies. The conference will feature workshops led by experienced writers and industry professionals, with opportunities to learn about fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry.
In the morning session, Sara Johnson will lead a workshop on “The Importance of Setting” in fiction, Tim Hatcher will teach “Running With An Egg: Creative Nonfiction from idea to publishing” in the creative nonfiction track, and Malaika King Albrecht will lead “Zen Telegrams and other musings” in poetry. After a break and complimentary lunch, Sara Johnson will give the keynote address. In the afternoon workshop session, John DeDakis will teach “Buffing and Polishing: The Art of the Rewrite” in fiction, Tim Hatcher will teach “Running With An Egg: Creative Nonfiction from idea to publishing” again, and Malaika King Albrecht will lead “Zen Telegrams and other musings” again in poetry.
The day will also include informative presentations from Sherri Hollister on Alliance of Independent Authors and Rose Cushing on podcasting, as well as a panel discussion and Q&A on publishing and editing with Robin Miura of Blair Publishing, Ed Southern of NCWN, L. Diane Wolfe of Dancing Lemur Press, and visiting author John DeDakis. And of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow writers and enjoy live music during our cocktail hour.
Don’t miss this opportunity to improve your craft, connect with other writers, and have fun here on the beautiful Crystal Coast. Register now to secure your spot!
