Hybrid | Poet Quartet: Kathy Nelson, Nicole Farmer, Kenneth Chamlee, Stevie Edwards | Buncombe or Virtual

Join us for our monthly poetry reading series coordinated by Mildred Barya. This month’s event features Kathy Nelson, Nicole Farmer, Kenneth Chamlee, and Stevie Edwards.

This is a hybrid event with limited in-store seating and the option to attend online. The event is free but registration is required for both in-person and virtual attendance.

Kathy Nelson, formerly of Asheville and currently living in Nevada, is a recipient of the James Dickey Prize, an MFA graduate of the Warren Wilson Program for Writers, and a Nevada Arts Council Fellow. She is author of The Ledger of Mistakes (Terrapin Books). Her work appears in About Place, New Ohio Review, Tar River Poetry, Stirring Literary Journal, Valparaiso Poetry Review, and Verse Daily. Nicole Farmer has published two poetry books, Wet Underbelly Wind (Finishing Line Press 2022), and Honest Sonnets: Memories from an Unorthodox Childhood in Verse (Kelsay Books 2023). Her poems have been published in over forty magazines, including Kakalak, Poetry South, Wisconsin Review, 86 Logic, Adelaide Literary Magazine, Drunk Monkeys, and Wild Roof Journal.  She was awarded the first prize in prose poetry from Bacopa Literary Review in 2020. Kenneth Chamlee’s latest collections are The Best Material for the Artist in the World, a poetic biography of 19th-century American landscape painter Albert Bierstadt (Stephen F. Austin State University Press, 2023), and If Not These Things (Kelsay Books, 2022). He is Emeritus Professor of English at Brevard College in North Carolina and now teaches for the Great Smokies Writing Program of UNC-Asheville. Stevie Edwards is the author of Quiet Armor, Sadness Workshop, Humanly, and Good Grief. Her poems have appeared in Poetry, American Poetry Review, The Southern Review, and elsewhere. She is a Lecturer at Clemson University and Poetry Editor of The South Carolina Review. She holds an MFA from Cornell University and a PhD from the University of North Texas.
