The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough is excited to present A Virtual Talk with Lawrence A. Dunmore III, a Tribal historian, folklorist, and member of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation. Taking place via Zoom on March 23rd at 7 pm.
Like many indigenous communities along the eastern seaboard, men from Saponi Nation communities served on both sides during the American Revolution. Listen along as Lawrence discusses the history and experience of the Saponi people from Virginia and North Carolina, who coalesced into the ancestors of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation.
