Melanie Sue Bowles will be in conversation with Robert Gwaltney about her new coming of age novel: LIBERTY BISCUIT. Melanie is the founder of Proud Spirit Horse Sanctuary, located in Wilkesboro, NC. In operation for over 30 years, Proud Spirit is one of the most successful, longest existing facilities for at risk horses in the United States. Melanie is the award winning author of three nonfiction titles about her work at the sanctuary. Liberty Biscuit, her most recent release, won the Feathered Quill Award. Together with author Robert Gwaltney, the authors will be discussing their books and the writing life, and taking questions from the audience. Robert’s debut novel, THE CICADA TREE won the Somerset Award for Literary Fiction. In addition to receiving much acclaim, Robert was also the recipient of the Fall 2022 Pat Conroy Writer’s Residency. Copies of both author’s books will be available at the event.
