Paul Jones, Katie Kehoe, Pat-Riviere-Seel | Greensboro

October 30, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Three distinguished poets will read at Scuppernong Books on October 30th at 4 pm.

Katie Kehoe lives in Greensboro, NC. She’s published in Bayou Magazine, The Appalachian Journal, and elsewhere. She was a finalist in NC State’s Poetry Contest (2019) and winner of the Truman Capote Poetry Prize (2012). She holds an MFA in poetry from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and currently studies library science at UNC Chapel Hill with the aim of making books and writing accessible to all. When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found baking bread or mucking around in the woods.

Pat Riviere-Seel’s most recent poetry collection, When There Were Horses is scheduled for release in the fall, 2021. Her previous collections include: Nothing Below but Air (Main Street Rag, 2014), The Serial Killer’s Daughter (Main Street Rag, 2009), and No Turning Back Now (Finishing Line Press 2004). The Serial Killer’s Daughter won the NC Literary and Historical Society’s Roanoke Chowan Book Award and Nothing Below but Air was a semifinalist for the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award. The Serial Killer’s Daughter has been staged by Shared Radiance Performing Arts Company and performed as a one-act play.

A native of Hickory, NC, Paul Jones received his first poetry publication credits from his high school literary magazine, Inquisition in Charlotte, NC. He has accomplished many noteworthy things during his time as a writer, such as: having the shortest poem to win the Carolina Quarterly Poetry Prize, having a manuscript of his poems engraved onto micro-thin nickel plates that were carried to the moon by SpaceIL’s Beresheet Lander, and being nominated for two “Best of the Web” awards in addition to two Pushcart Prizes. In addition to his writing accomplishments, Jones can be credited with helping to invent the internet and will be inducted into NC State’s Computer Science Hall of Fame in November 2021.
