Shape-Shifting: Experimenting with Genre to Find the Right Container of Your Story | NCWN Orange-Durham Event

March 13 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the North Carolina Writers’ Network joint Durham/Orange Counties IN-PERSON event for March featuring distinguished North Carolina novelist, college educator, editor, poet, and reporter, Nancy Young.

If your chosen story form isn’t working, why not try another? You’ve heard the saying that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Shape-shifting will take you in a new direction, because changing form helps develop new content. This hands-on workshop will cover exploring your genre options and their conventions, fitting your skills and interests to a genre, and avoiding the risks of cross-genre writing. The session also includes hands-on exercises to show in what directions shape-shifting can lead you. This workshop welcomes writers of all skill levels, interests, and writing genres (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and beyond).

*Please arrive before 6 pm to ensure a prompt start!
