Georgann Eubanks Reading

In each of the 12 monthly chapters of NCWN trustee Georgann Eubanks’ recent book, The Month of Their Ripening, she identifies a North Carolina heritage food that ripens or is seasonally available in that month. In each of the twelve chapters, Eubanks gives its month’s heritage food a warm, entertaining, and informative write-up.

Coffee with the Poets and Writers

Coffee with the Poets and Writers (CWPW) will feature poet Donald E. Long and author Carroll S. Taylor. One of Long's poems was featured at the 2013 Florida Convention for Vietnam Helicopter Pilots. His story about Vietnam has appeared in two different military anthologies and was featured in VHPA Aviator Magazine. Taylor is the author of two young adult novels, Chinaberry Summer and Chinaberry Summer: On the Other Side. Her books emphasize generational storytelling and her love for reptiles and amphibians, especially snakes.

The Literary Hour

Rosemary Poole-Carter Reading

Join author Rosemary Poole-Carter and The Montford Park Players for a conversation about how the novel Only Charlotte was inspired by Shakespeare's play The Winter's Tale. The play will be performed in Montford Park between August 30 and September 14. Learn more at www.montfordparkplayers.org.

Rosemary Poole-Carter explores aspects of an uneasy past in her novels Only Charlotte, Women of Magdalene, What Remains, and Juliette Ascending, all set in the post-Civil War South. This will be a discussion of the production. The play is not being performed.
