Moose has published stories in Atlantic, Alaska Quarterly Review, North American Review, and other places. She taught creative writing at UNC-Chapel Hill for fifteen years. After she retired, she published two novels, Doing at the Dixie Dew and Wedding Bell Blues , which won the Malice Domestic prize from St.Martin's Press. She has also published six books of poetry, including The Librarian and Other Poems. She lives in Pittsboro.
