"A great read that engages on many levels! Historical adventures at sea and on the 1750s American frontier. Masterful pacing. Skillful use of historical detail and real life figures of the period ground the novel. Richly drawn female characters deal with the many restrictions of their era."
—William S. Jacobs, author of Whence These Special Places

"If you liked the Outlander series, this story will appeal to you-high praise! I stayed up much too late reading it. Read it all in 2 days. If you don't know what a "variolation" was , you will after reading this."
—Deborah Hunter

"Still wanting more after 534 pages, even though this has a satisfying ending. Hoping there will be a sequel. These characters come alive for the reader. Would make a great mini-series or movie. A great read!"
—Anonymous reader

A Home on Wilder Shores follows the fascinating adventures of two young Welsh sisters in 1750s Wales and the wilds of the American frontier, as they struggle to overcome the dangers and prejudices of the era to become women of substance and purpose.

Susan Posey loves searching in the woods for wild plants, studying family history, and writing, now that she has retired from her practice of psychotherapy. Research in Wales, where she found the Rhys/Reese/Rice family castle ruins and manor house, was a delight. She also traveled The Great Wagon Road from Philadelphia to Bethania, North Carolina. Unlike the sisters in the book (her many-times great aunts), she had bridges to cross all those rivers. She lives in the Western North Carolina mountains with her husband and their two dogs.
