Conferences

The Network sponsors three conferences each year—a Spring Conference in April, Writing Workshops in July, and a Fall Conference in November. These conferences bring together hundreds of writers for workshops, readings, networking, and lively discussion.

 

Spring Conference 2021

April 22-24, Online
Master classes in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry on Thursday and Friday evenings, online. A full day of instruction and camaraderie on Saturday, online. Other features include faculty readings, sessions on the craft and business of writing, and an Open Mic for conference participants. **Registration is open!**

 

Squire Summer Writing Workshops 2021

TBD, 2021, Davidson
The Squire Summer Writing Workshops offer an intensive course in a chosen genre (fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry), with ten hour-and-a-half sessions over the four days of the program. Registrants work in-depth on their own manuscript samples, as well as their colleagues’, while also studying the principles of the genre with their instructor. Other features include faculty readings, panel discussions, and open mic sessions for residents.

 

Fall Conference 2021

TBD, Durham
The Fall Conference attracts hundreds of writers from around the country and provides a weekend full of activities that include lunch and dinner banquets with readings, keynotes, tracks in several genres, open mic sessions, and the opportunity for one-on-one manuscript critiques with editors or agents. Conference faculty include professional writers from North Carolina and beyond. Held every year in a major hotel, the conference rotates annually. 

 

Cabin Fever Conference 2020

April 16-18, Online
The Cabin Fever Conference 2020 offers 630 minutes of instruction in each genre, plus classes on the business of writing. Also included: faculty readings, open mics for registrants, and a Virtual Exhibit Hall. Full, half, and quarter conference rates available, as well as the option to take just a single class! **Registration is closed.**

 

Squire Online 2020

July 9-12, Online
