AUP’s Summer Creative Writing Institute

The American University of Paris Summer School’s Summer Creative Writing Institute offers students opportunities to write and share poetry, fiction, and nonfiction under the guidance of a highly accomplished faculty member. At the same time, students will enjoy Paris life and culture while becoming steeped in some of its great literary legacy.

The Creative Writing Institute is comprised of intensive writing workshops which meet Monday-Thursday from July 1-July 23. Participants may choose between one of three genre-specific workshops: The Poetic Experience, Fiction Writing, or Creative Nonfiction, each taught by experienced writers and teachers. Participants in all three workshops are also invited to weekly readings by invited authors.

Additionally, AUP has extended the deadline for its competitive travel stipend competition, which offers up to €500 each to three outstanding Creative Writing Institute students. To be considered, in addition to the completed summer application, participants must send supplemental materials via email to admissions@aup.edu by the extended deadline of April 15, 2024.

All members who wish to take part in AUP Summer School programs must apply through AUP’s website, where they can also learn more about tuition and fees, housing options, and optional cultural excursions.
