The Healing Process of Poetry With Morrow Dowdle
August 30  | 6:30-8:30 pm | $15/session | Ages 18+ (female identifying and gender non-conforming females)
This workshop is for all levels, from those who have never written poetry to published poets. We will read poetry about trauma from well-regarded poets and discuss their work, and work on writing about trauma from our own perspectives both from prompts as well as individually-generated. All materials provided.
Stunning Images with Smart Phone with Laura Wessell
Thursdays, August 31 – September 21 | 6:30 – 8 pm | $200 for 4 weeks | Ages 18+
You can take great images with your Smartphone. Whether you would like to improve your travel image,s or portraits of your kids, this is the class for you. In four weeks, you will learn the power of your smartphone’s camera and the techniques you need to create stunning images with it. Each week we will go over new concepts and do an in-class assignment. You will have an additional assignment to work on over the week.
Incorporating Grief: Creative Practices to Support Living with Loss with Freddie Bell & Natalia Torres del Valle
Saturday, September 2 | 3 – 6 pm | FREE (max of 10) | Ages 13-18
Through visual art, writing, and nature, participants are given the opportunity to explore and process experiences of grief. Time will be spent both independently and connecting with the group. All forms of grief are welcome in this intimate workshop. All supplies are provided, but you are encouraged to bring any items that provide comfort. Participants will leave with creative practices to support their grief journey.
Guided Open Painting Studio (Fall Session 1) with Kelly Oakes
Tuesdays, September 5 – October 24 | 1:30 – 4:30 pm | $175 for 8 weeks | Ages 18+
Some painting experience required. This is an independent working studio. Come work while getting help from local Eno Arts Mill artist, Kelly Oakes. She will offer guidance to advance your work to the next level through individual critiques and group demos. This isn’t for beginners but perfect for novices as well as artists who want to work in a supportive group environment. All painting mediums welcomed (only gamesol allowed for oils/solvents).
The Landscape in Acrylic with M. Scott Myers
Wednesdays, September 6 – October 11 | 6 – 8:30 pm | $180 for 6 weeks | Ages 18+
Together with the instructor, students will go through the steps of creating a believable and beautiful landscape. All styles and skills and enthusiasms are welcome. Students are asked to bring in a photograph, or iPad image that they’ve taken, that inspires them and that they would like to express on canvas. Students will leave the class with several sketches, a bit of confidence, and one, well done, painting. Art guaranteed! Suggested supply list may be found here.
Introduction to Soul Collage© with Bridget Pemberton-Smith
Fridays, September 8 – October 6 | 12 – 2 pm | $225 for 5 weeks | Ages 18+
Soul Collage© is an intuitive and creative collage making process. Using simple materials, Soul Collagers create a personalized deck of cards with each card representing a part of their personality or soul. No art experience is needed to make Soul Collage© cards…all that is needed is a willingness to be open and learn about yourself. In this introductory workshop series, participants will learn about the origins of Soul Collage© and about the four Soul Collage© suits and their meaning. During the last class, participants will learn how to do a Soul Collage© reading. Each week, participants will have plenty of time to create their own Soul Collage© cards.
Mixed Media Goddess Workshop with Heather Gerni
Saturday, September 9 & Sunday, September 10 | 10:30 am – 4:30 pm each day | $175 (+$8 materials fee day 1) | Ages 18+
And Eno Arts Mill favorite! Create a stunning goddess from start to finish in this weekend workshop. Using an engaging intuitive process with various techniques and mixed media, students will create a large 4.5-foot goddess painting. No experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome. There will be 45-minute lunch breaks each day. Students may eat off-site or bring a bag lunch.
Twisted Fairytales with Vault Theatre
Thursdays, September 14th – November 16th | 4-5pm | Ages 5-7 | $150 for 10 weeks
Discover what really happened Once Upon A Time. You know the classics, but in this class we’ll flip it, twist it, and make them our own! This creative class will foster imagination, nurture self-confidence, and teach students how to work as an ensemble while bringing to life bigger than life characters. This class will end in an in-class presentation.
Comedy Tonight with Vault Theatre
Thursdays, September 14th – November 16th | 5-6pm | Ages 8-12 | $150 for 10 weeks
Through comedic scenes and improv games, students will have a blast exploring what it takes to make people laugh! Young Artists will build acting skills and confidence in this laughter filled class. The class will end in a presentation at the end of the session.
Tin Can Collage with Thomas W. Graham
Saturday, September 16 | 12 – 4 pm | $80 | Ages 18+
In this class you will create a collage out of scrap tin and/or aluminum! You’ll learn how to safely disassemble and cut tin cans and secure the pieces to create a 8”x10” collage. Most materials will be provided, other than work gloves. If you have a hammer, needle-nose pliers and tin snips you prefer, bring them too! Students are welcome to bring in tin or aluminum to use if they wish. Moderate hand strength is required. All skill levels are welcome.
Beginning Encaustic Painting with Mary Lamb
Saturday, September 30 & Sunday, October 1 |10am-1pm both days | $200 | Ages 18+
Learn the origin and nature of encaustic (hot wax) painting and the materials and different effects that are possible. The class will use ready-made encaustic paints and various implements to create an original work of art. All materials will be provided. You don’t need any previous experience to work in encaustics; they are endlessly variable and are as easy or difficult as you want them to be.
