Quarter After Eight: 2022 Robert J. DeMott Short Prose Contest

Prize: $1,008.15 + publication

Submit up to three previously unpublished pieces. Each piece must be 500 words or fewer. Any genre is acceptable as long as the work is written in prose. Send us your best short-short stories, micro-essays, and prose poems (lineated poems will not be considered). To read the work of our 2020 winners, see our Table of Contents page.

Judge: Kirstin Valdez Quade, author of The Five Wounds, which won the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize, and the short story collection, Night at the Fiestas, which won the John Leonard Prize from the National Book Critics Circle.
