It’s always nice when two of your favorite activities converge. Today’s Shelf Awareness included a column by Robert Gray about Phil Jackson, the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and winner of 11 NBA titles (a record), and his long-standing tradition of assigning books to his players.
As Gary says at his column’s conclusion, “. . . in a world where books often seem to matter less, there is this guy coaching in the NBA to whom they matter a great deal. And his team just won another damn title.”
