Buy books for soldiers, and don’t generalize

The excellent North Carolina Miscellany blog greeted me this morning with this post about the “faculty of generalizing” and the mountains around Asheville, site of the 2011 Fall Conference, November 18 – 20.  Save the date, so you can develop your faculty of specificity.

On a more serious note, Press 53 here in Winston-Salem is making two special offers between yesterday and Flag Day (June 14, two weeks from today).  For every Press 53 book you buy through their website, they will send a copy – at no additional charge to the customer – to an active-duty soldier.  For every copy of the anthology What Doesn’t Kill You . . . sold, Press 53 will donate $5 to the American Red Cross’s relief efforts in tornado-effected areas of Alabama, Missouri, and North Carolina.

Not only would you be supporting troops and tornado victims, you’d be supporting the numerous Network members whose work is included in the anthology or published by Press 53 (including, in the interest of full disclosure, me).
