Give Away Free Books: Deadline is January 25

A reminder from Durham’s Regulator Bookshop:

January 25 is the deadline to apply to be a World Book Night Giver. World Book Night is an international program that sends tens of thousands of people out on the anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth—April 23—to give away millions of books. The idea is to spread the joy of reading, person to person, to light or non-readers.

World Book Night has been going strong for a decade or so in Europe, and this will be its second year in the U.S. Last April dozens of local folks, carrying free books, fanned out from The Regulator and had a grand time giving books away to people.

Bookstores and other organizations across the state will act as World Book Night headquarters, where givers can pick up their free books on April 23. To see a list of the 2013 books, volunteer, or apply to be a giver, visit http://www.us.worldbooknight.org/.
