It’s been awfully quiet at the Virtual White Cross School, because it’s been awfully hectic at the Network. The 2009 Squire Summer Writing Residency went tremendously well, unless the registrants were even better at acting than they are at writing. Since then your Network staff has been busy finalizing all the details for the 2009 Fall Conference (November 20-22) in Wrightsville Beach; look for registration to open at www.ncwriters.org in early September, and for the Fall Conference issue of the newsletter to arrive shortly after.
In the meantime, the Network needs a few good writers to volunteer their time and enthusiasm. We will have exhibit tables at the North Carolina Literary Festival at UNC-Chapel Hill and at the BookMARKS Book Festival in Winston-Salem, both of which are on Saturday, September 12. Our staff needs a few volunteers to help them tell folks about the Network at each festival. If you are willing and able to help out – even if only for a little while – please e-mail me at ed@ncwriters.org. If you can’t volunteer to help, we hope you’ll support the literary arts in North Carolina by attending one or both of these events, and drop by and say hello while you’re there.
Two weeks after these festivals, the Network will have a table again at the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance Trade Show in Greenville, SC. This is a great opportunity for Network members to put their books in front of booksellers from across the South. Full details and a registration form are on the Network’s home page.
