Congratulations to NCWN member June Guralnick. She is a recipient of the 2022 Raleigh Medal of Arts Award for Leaders in the Arts category. The acknowledgment from the City of Raleigh Arts Commission honors residents that “enhance arts leadership and governance through work in the arts and cultural sector.”
She is the founder and Fellowship Program Coordinator of the Sally Buckner Emerging Writers’ Fellowship.
June is an award-winning playwright with a theatre background from City College of New York. Her works have been performed in venues across the country including The Kennedy Center (Washington, DC) and the Equity Library Theatre (New York).
June has served the arts community in various capacities: as a National Endowment for the Arts Theatre Administration Fellows, Executive Director of Theatre Association of Pennsylvania, North Carolina Arts Council Theatre Arts Director, Artistic Director of the Women’s Ensemble Theatre (N.Y.), Executive Director of The Centre (Halifax Community College), and the City of Raleigh Arts Commission Executive Director.
The 2022 Raleigh Medal of Arts is testament to June’s decades long commitment to writers and artistic community. It is a well-deserved acknowledgment, indeed.
Recipients will be honored on Wednesday, October 19th at the Theatre in the Park in Raleigh.
