NC Writers on Longlist for The Crook’s Corner Book Prize

Written by Membership Coordinator Celeste McMaster

Today, August 3, 2023, The Crook’s Corner Book Prize Foundation announced its Longlist for best debut novel set in the American South. Among the ten listed are: North Carolina writer Scott Blackburn’s It Dies with You (Crooked Lane Books, Penguin Random House), and NCWN member Marjorie Hudson’s Indigo Fields (Regal House Publishing)!

This year NCWN member, New York Times best-selling novelist Wiley Cash, whose A Land More Kind Than Home won the first Crook’s Corner Book Prize, will be judging the contest.

The Crook’s Corner Book Prize Shortlist will be announced in September 2023, and the $5,000 prize winner will be announced in January 2024.

Congratulations to representing North Carolina writers, and to all other winners!
