The North Carolina Writers’ Network 2011 Fall Conference is just a little more than two weeks away. On Friday, November 18, writers from around the state–and some from other parts of the U.S.–will ascend to Asheville for three days of workshops, panels, readings, and the opportunity to stretch our legs, catch a breath of fresh air, and get away from our desks for a little bit.
We’ve been getting some nice mentions in the press:
- NCWN Executive Director Ed Southern and 2011 Fall Conference faculty member Anne Fitten Glenn appeared on Main FM’s “Asheville and the Arts” on October 27. You can listen to the archived interview here.
- Ed also spoke with Pam Bunch on WNCW during a break from their “Morning Edition” broadcast.
- Ben Steelman of the Wilmington Star-News gave us a shout-out in his “Bookmarks” column.
- Julie Cantrell listed gave our conference top billing–and exclusive tenancy–in a recent e-newsletter from the Southern Literary Review.
- NCWN member Melanie Wilcox talked about our conference on her blog, NC Prism.
- 2011 Fall Conference panelist Rob Neufeld, a columnist at the Asheville Citizen-Times, helped us promote our “Southern Fictions/Southern Identities” fundraiser at Malaprop’s Bookstore/Cafe back on October 7,
- and keep your eye out for a great feature article by Rob on our 2011 Fall Conference, which may very well run this Sunday, November 6 in the Asheville Citizen-Times.
Special thanks too to Sarah Lange at The Writer Magazine, who featured an interview with Ed and devoted half a page to showcasing our Fall Conference in their October, 2011 issue. And we’re grateful to folks like Robin Chalkey at the Winston-Salem Writers; Bridget Bell at The Hinge Literary Center; Andrew Steineke at the North Carolina Poetry Society; and all the other North Carolina writers organizations, bookstores, libraries, publishers, and industry-minded folks who let their friends and members know about the conference. Thanks to everyone for helping us spread the word about what’s shaping up to be a really exciting weekend.
Registration for the 2011 Fall Conference is still open, but only through November 11. So if you haven’t registered, don’t delay. And we’ll see you in Asheville!
