“Writing for Publication” Symposium Replaces SC Writers Conference

Wrightsville Beach, NC

The South Carolina Writers’ Workshop will offer a one-day symposium on October 26 titled “Writing for Publication.”

This event, to be held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, South Carolina, will offer classes such as “Writing with a Sense of Place,” “Polishing to Publish,” and “Character Building.” There will also be an Agent/Author/Editor Q&A Panel.

The South Carolina Writers’ Workshop is one of the premier literary organizations in the southeast and has traditionally hosted the annual South Carolina Writers Conference. Unfortunately, the organization has had to suspend the conference indefinitely due to financial concerns, and in its place is offering this one-day symposium.

According to their website:

“Because of the SCWW deficit, we are not going to have a full-blown conference this year….We are planning and preparing for this one-day event and currently hope to keep costs relatively low thereby encouraging not only SCWW members but anyone who has an interest in writing to join us.”

We wish the best to our southerly fellow writing organization and encourage our readers to visit Columbia, South Carolina, on October 26.

Still looking for a writing conference this fall? The North Carolina Writers’ Network will host its 2013 Fall Conference November 15-17 at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Wrightsville Beach. Registration will open on or around September 1 at www.ncwriters.org.
