Hats Off to Julia Nunnally Duncan!

Julia Nunnally Duncan has recently published essays in WNC Magazine, Tennessee Home and Farm, and Smoky Mountain Living Magazine, and she has essays forthcoming in Smoky Mountain Living and World War One Illustrated. A book review of her essay collection All We Have Loved (Finishing Line Press, 2023) is forthcoming in North Carolina Literary Review and in Smoky Mountain Living Magazine.

"Pasiphaë Redux," short story, a modern re-purposing of the Pasiphaë myth appropriately published on Valentine's Day, has been published in Fiction on the Web Literary Magazine, UK.

Hats Off to Polly Hansen!

Polly Hansen's short story, "Frances Awakes" was published in the print edition of The Heartland Review, Fall 2023 edition.

A chapter titled "Cosmic Farm" from Hansen's award-winning memoir A Minor, Unaccompanied was recently published in the print edition of Midwest Review, Vol. 11.

Hats Off to Heather Bell Adams!

Heather Bell Adams will present as an independent scholar at the 2024 Appalachian Studies Association annual conference. Her paper is entitled "Desire, Autonomy, & Resilience: The Women in Meagan Lucas' Here in the Dark and Jolene McIlwain's Sidle Creek."

Cathy Rossi Warner's essay "The Day I Believed in Aliens" was recently published in issue 4 of Raw Lit magazine.

Hats Off to Justin Hunt!

Justin Hunt's full-length poetry collection, Requiem in Wide-Open Minor, was named runner-up in the 2023 Cider Press Review Book Award.

Hats Off to Stephen C. Pollock!

Stephen C. Pollock's debut poetry collection Exits received the Silver Medal (second place) for poetry in the 2024 Feathered Quill Book Awards.

Hats Off to Katie Winkler!

Katie Winkler has been chosen to be a member of the Dramatists Guild Foundation’s inaugural National Fellows program. She will be working with her musical “A Carolina Story,” music composed by Curtis McCarley, and seeking production opportunities. In more good news, Winkler's story "Horsepower" appears in WayWords Literary Journal, Issue 13.

Hats Off to Eileen Vorbach Collins!

Eileen Vorbach Collins's Love in the Archives, a Patchwork of True Stories About Suicide Loss, received two awards: A Pencraft Award for Literary Excellence and The Sarton Women's Book Award Finalist.
