The North Carolina Writers’ Network is proud to welcome Cassie Mannes Murray of Hillsborough to its Board of Trustees.
The current NCWN trustees unanimously approved her nomination in an election conducted on June 8. She will serve a three-year term, after which she may be re-elected.

Cassie Mannes Murray is a writer, literary agent, and book publicist. She is a graduate of North Carolina State University and has an MFA in creative nonfiction from University of North Carolina Wilmington where she was a publishing fellow with Ecotone Magazine and Lookout Books. She currently runs her own publicity firm, Pine State Publicity, where she works with indie press publishers and writers, and is a literary agent at Triangle House. Before working in publishing, Mannes Murray was a high school teacher in rural North Carolina, and she lives in Hillsborough with her family.
“North Carolina is my home, it’s where I learned to write & read, and I am lucky to be shrouded in pine trees and surrounded by horse pastures in order to write this news about how honored I feel joining the NCWN Board of Trustees today,” Mannes Murray said. “It has always been my mission to help Southern writers prosper. With such spirited and lush work being created by North Carolinians, I hope to help build connections and community for our growing body of writers, and bridge gaps between the art of writing and the business of publishing for members of the Network.”
